We Met Harvey!

Today Avery and I headed out, via some beautiful backroads, to Connecticut.  Why did we make the hour and a half trek to the Nutmeg state, you ask?

ICE CREAM!!!! (Of course!)

We were meeting up with some fellow Connecticut bloggers (For some reason, they think I’m cool enough, and let me hang out with them!) for an Ice Cream Social play date with our kiddos. And, to meet Harvey.

I’m sure you’re wondering who Harvey is, right?  Well, let me tell you!!

Harvey Perley Hood started his dairy company in 1846 in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

As a tribute to their founder’s legacy of more than 100 years in the ice cream business, Hood has created The Harvey Bar. Available in 4 delicious flavors, each Harvey Bar is made with creamy Hood® ice cream and is covered in a rich chocolate coating.

We arrived at the absolutely beautiful Wickham Park and got right down to business.

Avery was ready to party as soon as she saw the “balls” Or “Balloons” as you might call them.

And of course we had to go on the “Wee Wee” aka “swing”

Then, the real event got underway!

We helped ourselves to snacks, and learned all about the Harvey Bars!

Because I’m a really nice mom, I shared mine with Avery.

At first she wasn’t quite sure what I had given her.

Then she went in for the kill. I had one heck of a time getting it away from her so I could take a taste.  But, I bribed her with pretzels and she gave in.

We all know how I feel about babies with messy faces…..

The Harvey Bars were delicious, and really hit the spot on such a brutally hot day.

We hung out, chatted, Avery drank her very first apple juice box (after seeing all the other kids with them, there was no stopping her. She HAD to have one too!!) and then it was time to hit the road back to Rhode Island.

We had a great day with the CT Bloggers and Hood, and I know we will soon have a freezer stocked with Harvey Bars (Ice cream bars like this are one of Dave’s FAVORITE desserts!)

Special thank you to A Year With Mom and Dad for hosting the event and inviting Avery and I to attend! And of course, thank you to Hood (especially Julie and Courtney) who introduced us to the deliciousness of Harvey Bars!

If you want to learn more about Harvey Bars, or any of the other great products by Hood visit their website at Hood.com, Facebook at facebook.com/HPHood or follow them on twitter at @HPHood

**Disclosure**This play date was sponsored by Hood and we were given samples of Harvey Bars to taste. I was not asked to write a blog post, we just had such a great day, and enjoyed the Harvey Bars so much, that I wanted to share!**
