Valentine’s Day is coming up, and I always find it hard to find something special for my husband. There are only so many chocolate tool boxes and gummy golf clubs one man can stomach. This year I wanted to do something extra special for him.
He works his tail off, and because of that he doesn’t get to spend a ton of time with Avery. I thought it would be nice to create a Day Out With Daddy Jar for him! When he has a free day, he can pull a slip from the jar, and take Avery on a little adventure!
What You’ll Need:
- A Jar (I chose a red one for Valentine’s Day)
- Glue
- Slips of paper to write your Day Out ideas on
- Day Out With Daddy graphic-You can print your own HERE
- Ribbon
- Gift Cards (optional)
It’s very simple. First you’ll print and cut out the heart graphic. Using glue, apply it to the jar and let it dry.
Next, write out all you Daddy/Daughter date ideas.
Here are some of our ideas:
-A trip to Starbucks for a hot chocolate & cake pop date
-Go to see a new movie
-A trip to the bookstore for a new bedtime story book
-A visit to the zoo
-A visit to the aquarium
-A trip the our favorite playground
-A picnic in the park
-Get dressed up and go to a “fancy” dinner
-Visit the paint your own pottery studio
-A trip to Target (because we love Target!)
I added in a few gift cards as well, to cover the cost of certain Day Out adventures!
Put all the slips of paper into the jar and seal it up!
Tie a ribbon around it, and you’re done!
This is such a special Valentine’s Day Gift for Dad because it’s something for daddy and daughter to enjoy together for the whole year!

This is such a creative and great idea, not to mention easy on the wallet. I *love* the ideas that you put in the jar, too. I wish I could steal 1% of your creativity… do you think we can work something out? 😉
This is such a neat idea to encourage time doing fun things where it is just Dad and the kid(s).
