Celebrating Oktoberfest at Foxwoods #FestAtFox

*Disclosure* I was invited to attend this event and partake in great food, and great fun, in exchange for my honest review*

October. It’s my favorite month. The leaves, the food and the festivities. I hold a very special place in my heart for Oktoberfest. The German Festival reminds me of my Poppa, and all the delicious German food my Nana would prepare.

Dave and I were invited to attend Oktoberfest at Foxwoods® Resort Casino, and it did not disappoint! We joined a group of friends and fellow bloggers to sample delicious beers, great food, and enjoy a night filled with fun!

When we arrived we met at Cedars Lounge to sample some rare and interesting beers. Fox101715.431-1024x681Our sampling included:

  • Hanssens: Oude Gueuze (Belgium)
  • Kasteel: Rouge (Belgium)
  • Aecht Schlenkerla: Marzen Rauchbier (Germany)
  • La Trappe: Quad (The Netherlands)
  • Schloss Eggenberg: Samichlaus (Austria)

Dave and I have very different taste in beers, but we both enjoyed the Quad.  I also LOVED the Rouge, and we learned that we are not really big fans of sour beers.  It was interesting to move outside of my beer comfort zone (I’m a stout girl!) and try some new styles! During the tasting, we also enjoyed traditional pretzels (the size of your head!)10407053_10153232695151452_4379696138520706377_n

After the tasting we had time to explore the casino, and do a little shopping.  Of course we spent more time than I’d like to admit in the toy and candy stores…

Next up? BOWLING! If you’ve never visited High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Lounge, I suggest you do ASAP! It is fantastic! Dave and I have bowled at High Rollers before and it is one of our favorite date night spots! High Rollers features 20 PBA approved lanes including 6 VIP lanes with food and beverage service! (It’s a great place for a date, night out with friends, or even a larger event!) While none of us were blowing anyone away with our skills (Hey, we did just come form a beer tasting!)  we all had a great time!

After bowling, we headed back to Cedars for an Oktoberfest inspired dinner. 12191871_10153232694956452_7689167977224069307_n

The chef prepared a delicious three-course meal. The first course was Char-Grilled Bratwurst with German potato salad and whole grain mustard.

Dave and I had an incredible night at Foxwoods Resort Casino! In all our visits to Foxwoods, we are never disappointed, and always excited about planning our next date  night!
