This weekend our family had the opportunity to head down to Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA! We had visited the park last Christmas for the Very Furry Christmas event, and I was excited to check out what they had in store for The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular! I was looking forward to experiencing the park in warmer weather, and for Avery to get the full experience now that she is older. We all had a great time and can’t wait to visit again!
Here are our Top 10 tips for making the
most out of your Sesame Place visit!
1. Check out the Sesame Place website for deals on tickets. They are currently offering a great Online exclusive that will save your $20 on a single day admission ticket (now through 10/26/14) Buying your tickets online not only saves you money, but it can save you time as well. If you print at home, you can skip the ticket line and head right to the turnstiles! Sesame Place also offers discounted “twilight” tickets for those visiting the park after 3pm. AND U.S. active duty military receive one complimentary admission, per year, for themselves and up to three direct dependents.

2. Check out the park map, online, before you go! You’ll get a nice feel for the layout of the park, and can plan your day in advance. It’s also good to check height requirements for the rides so you’ll know which rides your child can go on alone, and which they will need an adult to ride with them. There were very few rides that Avery (at 31 inches tall) was too small to go on, however she did need one of us to ride with her.
3. Don’t miss the shows! The shows were definitely worth seeing! Avery may have enjoyed them even more than the rides!

For the Halloween Season, Sesame Place has some fun and festive new shows!
Arrive early if you want a front row seat, but don’t fret–all seats offer a good view of the show. For Elmo the Musical, our family recommends front row or the first row of the upper level. Those rows have the most leg room as the others rows are a bit tight, especially for taller adults-these seats will also give your little ones the best view.

4. Stay for the parade! We almost left when Avery started to get tired, but we thought the parade would be worth the wait. IT WAS! Avery loved the floats, dancing and signing, and seeing all her favorite friends from Sesame Street!

The best spot to view the parade is right near the middle of the route. We noticed that the floats stopped for the longest time in the middle, and there were streamers and confetti, and more character interaction in that area (We were at the very end of the route)
You’ll want to stake out your spot early! We noticed people setting up camp (with towels and blankets) an hour before the parade started. We arrived 30 minutes early and the space around us filled in quickly!

5. Take the time to meet the characters! I wasn’t sure how Avery would do with the characters, but was pleasantly surprised! She was SO THRILLED to see Zoe, and ran right up to give her a High Five. She also loved meeting Abby, after helping her find her wand in Abby Cadabby’s Magical Halloween Maze . The rest she just waved to from a distance, which was more than I expected!

There are many opportunities to meet your favorite friends from Sesame street! They do meet & greets around the park, and you can also have your picture taken and visit with Elmo, Cookie Monster and the rest of the crew at 1-2-3 Smile With Me! Located in Cookie’s Monster Land! Sesame Place allows you to take photos with your own camera as well, so there is no obligation to purchase photos (though they are very cute!)
If you’re looking for even more character interaction, try one of the character dining options! There are breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets with Elmo & Friends and photo packages are available!
6. Sunblock, bathing suits, and proper footwear! For our family, sunblock is a MUST! You’ll be out in the sun all day, and nothing ruins a fun family day like a sunburn! If you visit the park when the water rides are operating ,you’ll want to make sure that you pack your swim suits! Swim diapers are required, and water shoes are recommended. Also note, that shoes are required for ALL mechanical rides. It may seem like a no-brainer, but we encountered a few kids trying to get on a ride in just their socks!

7. If you are planning a visit during the busier season (Summer!) or are visiting on a busy weekend, you can skip the lines by using Abby’s Unlimited Magic Queue! This gives you front of the line access at the most popular attractions!

8. Enjoy the seasonal attractions! We loved all the fun new attractions that were open just for The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular! Avery got to Trick-or-Treat around the park, wander through not so spooky mazes, and we even had a chance to decorate pumpkins!

9. Check out the Sesame Place mobile app for real-time park info, an interactive map, daily show times, fun photo frames, insider park tips and more!
10. BYOE. Bring your own Elmo. The gift shops are overflowing with wonderful souvenirs. However, these items may not fit into your budget. If this is the case for you, let your child bring their Elmo (or Big Bird, or Grover…) from home. This *should* save you from a gift shop meltdown. We brought our own Elmo (purchased on our last trip!) and Avery didn’t ask for anything, and we spent quite a bit of time perusing the gift shops!

BONUS TIP! If you’re planning to spend a few days in the area, definitely stay at the SpringHill Suites Langhorne, located adjacent to the park! It’s just a short walk and you wont have to worry about parking!

Wow, nice place of Sesame Place. It is not only a funworld for kids and also a good place for parents to enjoy the great time with their family. I like it very much.
Sesame Place is really a wonderful place, though a little expensive. Tips are helpful for me, I can save some of the expenses.
