Glitter Mason Jars
I kind of love glitter. I know, I know, it makes a HUGE mess, and stays with your forever (FOR-EV-ERRR!) but I just can’t get enough. I also love mason jars. Ask my husband. Our cabinets are overflowing, and we do not have room for any more. I thought I could combine my two loves, and clear out a bit of my mason jar stash, to make something new!!
Simple, glitter mason jar candle holders!!
- mason jars or other jars (like baby food jars!) Big or small, depending on the size candles you intend to use
- ultra-fine glitter (I went with red and blue for the 4th of July!)
- some kind of adhesive that dries clear. (I used mod podge with a little bit of water mixed in)
- flameless candles
This project is simple, I promise.
Step 1. Spread a thin coat of adhesive on the INSIDE of your jar. Make sure to get good coverage!
Step 2. Pour in some glitter (a little goes a long way)
Step 3. Put the lid on the jar and shake it up! If you find that you need more glitter, just open the jar and add a bit more!
Step 4. Wipe the excess glitter from the top of the jar (if you’d like)
Step 5. Add string or ribbon around the lip of the jar, if you’d like. Step 6. Add your tealight!
I chose to use mars LED tealight candles for this project! I love the way they flicker like a real flame, but they are safe enough to display in our home! With a toddler, a dog, and two cats, candles have always made me nervous (my cat, Zoe, once burned her whiskers off when she got too close to a candle that was on our table!)
They are LED, so they are bright, but stay cool to the touch, and since they aren’t real flames, you can put them ANYWHERE or in anything!
They come in a set of 11, so I had plenty for this project and was able to put the rest in our other votive holders around the house!
