We all have that one friend, the one who is always thinking of us and goes out of their way to show it. The friend who, even if you don’t talk for awhile, you can pick right back off where you left off. The friend who is more like family, and you can share all your deepest secrets with. That friend!
I have one of those friends, and, sadly, we don’t get to see each other as often as I’d like. Especially in the winter. I have so much going on between work, and Avery’s activities, that I feel like I don’t have any time for anything else. My friend has even less time in the winter. She works at a ski resort, and so, winter is her extremely busy season (Obviously) Since the resort is open all day, every day, she works long hours.
She is always thinking of us, and she and her husband drive out here (12 live 170 miles away) to attend Avery’s birthday parties and other events.
I wanted to let her know that I was thinking of her, and decided to send her a care package. Just a little something to say that I hope she’s staying warm out there on the mountain! Because she’s extra cool, I wanted to give extra warmth! I put together a box filled with “warmth” Warm socks, hand warmers, a cute skiing raccoon ornament, a little mug (wearing a sweater!), hot chocolate, and I made white chocolate & candy cane spoons to mix in her cocoa! Items to warm her up and warm her heart! Oh! And some Extra Gum because she’s EXTRA special!! The spoons were really easy to make, and i thought they would be a fun addition to the care package! I love mixing different things into my cocoa and coffee to change it up a bit. You only need two ingredients: crushed candy canes, and white chocolate. You can use little wooden spoons like I did, or other disposable spoons. First, break up a few candy canes and put them in a large resealable bag and then crush up the candy canes!
Next, you’ll want to put your white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, and melt following the package directions (I put them in for 30 seconds, stirred, then put them back in for another 10 seconds) Using a spoon you can spread chocolate on the spoon, then dip in the crushed candy or sprinkle on with your fingers. Lay them out on wax paper to cool. You can package them in a small gift bag, or even in a little mason jar! (Everyone loves gifts in mason jars!!)Do you have an extra awesome friend? How do you show your friends that you care, even when life gets in the way and you don’t get to connect as often as you’d like?
