Spring is here!! It seemed like it would never come to New England, but it has finally arrived!
I love spring! I love the warmer, but not too warm, temps. I love the colors coming back, buds on the trees, flowers popping up, the birds happily signing in the morning. I love it all!

I also ove reading books that fit with the season (despite the fact that Avery wants me to read “Happy Valentine’s Day Corduroy” over and over) I try and steer her towards more seasonally appropriate choices. One of my favorite spring time books is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” The colors are so vibrant (gotta love Eric Carle!) and the story is so cute. Avery and I read it together every day!

Another thing I love about spring is the food!! Spring=Grilling season and our family loves to grill. However, Avery isn’t quite ready for steaks yet, so we have to create a springtime menu that also includes her!
This month we were given the opportunity to try out Tyson Chicken Nuggets, and the best part?? We got to play with our food!!
Avery and I headed out to pick up our Tyson Nuggets and condiments for decorating!
We located the Tyson products (A big selection!)

Avery checked out the ingredient list….

And we chose our “decorations”

When we saw the wild, vibrant, spring colored flowers we couldn’t resist bringing a bunch home!

We then headed over to meet Lois, who gave us a demo on how to decorate our Tyson Nuggets, and a delicious taste test!

Avery enjoyed her Tyson sample!

When we got home, Avery immediately went down for a nap, and I got to work in the kitchen, playing with our food.
What would I create with our Tyson Nuggets?? A butterfly? A flower? A Lady bug? The options were endless, but after seeing our copy of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” on the counter I knew what I wanted to make!

A Very YUMMY caterpillar!!!!
He was almost too cute to eat!
I cut up one of the nuggets to give to Avery when she woke up, and the rest, I chopped up and put on a salad for Dave’s lunch.

I had such a great time playing with my food, and creating the Very Yummy Caterpillar!!
I think it’s OK to let your kiddos play with their food sometimes! Kids (and adults) love fun foods and creating art from your meal can often inspire even the pickiest of eaters to “clean their plate”
Do you want to play with your food without any mess? Well, you can! ONLINE with Tyson HERE and create masterpieces like this!
