2017 Rhode Island Festival of Children’s Books and Authors
What are you up to on October 14th? We will be at the Rhode Island Festival of Children’s Books and Authors at Lincoln School in Providence! Our family looks forward to this event every year! We’ve been attending since 2013! That was the year Avery met the amazingly talented Dan Santat! Then in 2014 she met one of my favorite authors (and now hers as well) Jon Scieszka
Somehow, I don’t have any photos from 2015, and last year we had to miss it because we were in Disney World.
Anyway… We LOVE this event and you will too.
Rhode Island Festival of Children’s Books and Authors you will have the opportunity to hear 30-minute presentations from authors and illustrators. During these talks, they will share a bit about their work, life, and philosophy. You can find the full schedule HERE
Not only will you have the opportunity to hear from the authors and illustrators, you can meet them and have books signed! (You may bring up to three books to be signed. Only books by this year’s authors and illustrators may be brought into the festival.) Books will be available for purchase at the festival bookstore!
Between talks, kids can visit the craft tables and work on some fun bookmaking projects!
The Festival is collaborating with School One and Goat Hill to offer short fiction writing workshops at 1 and 3 pm. These workshops are offered as part of Write Rhode Island, a short fiction competition for RI students in grades 7-12.
Lunch will be available from some of RI’s favorite food trucks! The Gilded Tomato, rocket fine street food, Presto Strange O Coffee, La Creperie, Like No Udder, and Erms Cupcakes will all be parked on the Lincoln campus, so you will not go hungry!
Tickets are $5 (available at the door)
We hope to see you there!
